Final six are decided for the Boyle Sports Irish Greyhound Derby 2014

Tipperary GAA Supporters arrived in their hundreds at Shelbourne Park Greyhound Stadium not only to celebrate the Eve of the All Ireland Hurling Final, but also the semi-finals of the Boylesports.com Irish Greyhound Derby 2014.

And their support must have worked as the Tipperary based trainer Michael O’Donovans entrant Laughil Blake was fastest as he turned in another superb performance in the semi-final and now stands as the favourite for the final night on the 13th September.

But there was another terrific story as the two veteran trackers Tyrur Sugar Ray (trained by PJ Fahy) and Ballymac Vic (trained by Liam Dowling) both also qualified for next Saturday’s final. This will be an amazing third time that Ballymac Vic will race in the final 6 of an Irish Greyhound Derby.

Mary Fahy (Tyrur Sugar Ray), Liam Walsh (Borneo), Johnny Quinn (Emers Superstar), Leon Blanche of Boylesports (Sponsor), Shane Dowling (Ballymac Vic) Alan Newman (Vulturi) and Mary Jennings (Laughil Blake)

The night also provided a career highlight for Ballymacelligott breeder and trainer Liam Dowling as he saw his two runners finish first and third to claim their places in next Saturday’s final. Javier Jarne owned Vulturi took first spot and Ballymac Vic bagged the last of the spots.
